Privacy Policy
This policy explains what we collect when you visit cover.restaurant or start a free trial, and the choices you have.
Last updated: June 2026
Who we are
Cover is an AI host for full-service restaurants, operated by Calibrate Group. This policy covers the marketing site at cover.restaurant. You can reach us any time at hello@cover.restaurant.
Our role
Cover acts in two different roles depending on whose information is involved.
- For the marketing site and trial inquiries, Cover is the business (controller). When you visit cover.restaurant or start a free trial, Calibrate Group decides why and how your information is used, and this policy governs that information.
- For dashboard and product data, Cover is a service provider (processor) acting under each restaurant's direction. When a restaurant uses Cover to answer its calls, Cover processes that restaurant's guests' information on the restaurant's behalf and following its instructions. The restaurant is the business (controller) for its guests' information and is responsible for giving notice to, and obtaining any required consents from, its own guests.
If you are a guest of a restaurant that uses Cover and want to exercise privacy rights about your information (for example, a call record or a reservation text), please contact the restaurant you called, which controls that information. You may also contact us at hello@cover.restaurant and we will help facilitate your request or refer it to the restaurant. Where we act only as the restaurant's service provider, we follow the restaurant's instructions and applicable law.
Restaurant customers and their guests
This section explains the information Cover processes for restaurants that use the product, separate from the marketing-site and trial information described below.
When a guest calls a restaurant that uses Cover, our AI phone host answers the call and records information about the interaction so the restaurant can see what its phone line did for it. Depending on how a restaurant has configured Cover, the information we process on the restaurant's behalf may include:
- Call transcripts (a text record of the conversation) and, where applicable, call audio.
- Caller and reservation phone numbers and related call metadata (such as date, time, and duration).
- Reservation and lead details the caller provides, such as name, party size, requested date and time, and catering or event inquiry details.
- SMS opt-in records for guests who agree on the call to receive a one-time reservation-confirmation text, including the number provided, the opt-in event, and message delivery records.
Why we process it. We process this information solely to provide the Cover product to the restaurant: answering calls, logging calls and leads, sending the one-time reservation-confirmation text the guest requested, surfacing this activity in the restaurant's dashboard, and operating, securing, and supporting the service.
On the restaurant's behalf, not ours. We process this product data only on the restaurant's behalf and under its instructions. We do not sell it, we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use it for Cover's or Calibrate Group's own marketing. We do not retain, use, or disclose it for any purpose other than providing the service to the restaurant, or as permitted by applicable privacy law for service providers. Any subprocessors who help us run the product are bound to equivalent restrictions.
Information we collect
Information you give us. When you start a free trial, we collect your name, restaurant, email, phone number, reservation platform, website, and anything you write in the message field.
Information collected automatically. We use cookies and similar technologies to understand how visitors use the site and to measure our advertising. This can include your device and browser type, pages viewed, referring links, and advertising identifiers (such as a click ID passed from an ad). How we ask for your consent depends on where you are, as described below.
How we use it
- Respond to your trial request and set up and deliver your free trial.
- Communicate with you about Cover.
- Measure and improve our advertising and this website.
- Keep the site secure and prevent abuse.
Cookies and advertising measurement
We use Meta (Facebook) Pixel and Google Analytics to measure how our ads perform and how the site is used. These tools set cookies.
If you are in California, they load only after you accept in the consent banner, and if you decline they stay off. Elsewhere in the United States they load by default, and you can opt out at any time using the Opt out option in the banner or the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link in the footer.
We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals: if your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as an opt-out and do not load these tools. Opting out stops further measurement, but cannot retract information already collected earlier in the same visit. You can also control cookies through your browser settings.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information for money. We do use advertising and analytics cookies that share limited information with Meta and Google to measure our ads, which some state privacy laws may treat as a sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can opt out of this using the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link in the footer, the Opt out option in the cookie banner, or a Global Privacy Control signal.
Apart from these measurement providers, we share your information only with service providers who help us operate the site and communicate with you, and where required by law. These providers process your information only on our behalf.
California privacy disclosures
These additional disclosures are for California residents under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (together, the "CCPA"). They describe the personal information Cover handles as a business (the marketing site and trial inquiries). For product data Cover processes as a service provider on a restaurant's behalf, see "Our role" and "Restaurant customers and their guests" above; for that data the restaurant is the business, and requests should go to the restaurant or to us as its service provider.
Categories we collect (as a business), in the past 12 months:
- Identifiers: name, restaurant name, email, phone number, online identifiers, advertising or click IDs, and IP address. Sources: you (the trial form) and automatically from your device. Purposes: responding to and setting up trials, communicating with you, and security. Disclosed to service providers and advertising or analytics providers (Meta, Google). Not sold for money; advertising and analytics cookies may be treated as "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- Commercial information: your reservation platform, website, and anything you write in the trial message field. Source: you. Purpose: evaluating and setting up your trial. Disclosed to service providers. Not sold or shared.
- Internet or network activity: pages viewed, referring links, browser and device type, and interactions with the site and ads. Source: cookies and similar technologies. Purpose: measuring and improving advertising and the website, and security. Disclosed to advertising and analytics providers. May be treated as "sharing."
- Approximate location: coarse location inferred from your IP address. Source: automatically from your device. Purpose: applying the correct consent experience, security, and analytics. Not sold or shared.
- Inferences: limited inferences drawn from the above to measure ad performance. Purpose: measuring and improving advertising. May be treated as "sharing."
We do not sell personal information for money, and we do not knowingly collect, sell, or share the personal information of consumers under 16. We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information through the marketing site or trial form. Call audio and transcripts are product data processed on a restaurant's behalf, not collected by Cover as a business.
Your California rights. Subject to verification and legal limits, you may: know or access the personal information we collected, its sources, the purposes, and the categories of third parties it was disclosed to; delete it; correct it; opt out of any sale or sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising (via the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link in the footer, the cookie banner, or a Global Privacy Control signal); and be free from discrimination or retaliation for exercising your rights. These rights also extend, on a comparable basis, to residents of other US states with applicable privacy laws.
Text messages (SMS)
If you ask a restaurant that uses Cover to text you a reservation link, we send a one-time SMS to the mobile number you provide on the call. We do not share your mobile information or your opt-in with third parties for their marketing. Message and data rates may apply; reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. See our SMS Terms for details.
Your choices
- Decline or opt out of measurement cookies in the consent banner.
- Use the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link in the footer, or send a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser, and we will honor it.
- Opt out of marketing email by replying or contacting us.
- Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information by emailing hello@cover.restaurant.
How to exercise your rights
To submit a privacy rights request, email hello@cover.restaurant. To opt out of sale or sharing you can also use the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link in the footer, the cookie banner, or a Global Privacy Control signal, without submitting a separate request.
- Identity verification. We verify your identity before acting on access, deletion, or correction requests, using information we already have on file. You do not need an account to submit a request.
- Authorized agents. You may use an authorized agent, who must provide proof of your written permission; we may still ask you to verify your identity.
- Response window. We respond within 45 days. If we need more time, we may extend by another 45 days and will tell you why.
- Right to appeal. If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our response. If your appeal is denied, you may contact your state attorney general (in California, the California Privacy Protection Agency or the Attorney General).
- Guest requests. If your request concerns information a restaurant controls (for example, a call record), we forward it to the restaurant or act on its instructions as its service provider, and tell you how it is being handled.
- No fee or retaliation. Submitting a request is free in most cases, and we will not retaliate against you for exercising your rights.
Data retention
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, then delete or de-identify it.
- Trial-lead information (name, restaurant, email, phone, message): kept while we respond to your inquiry and for our business records, then deleted or anonymized. You can ask us to delete it sooner.
- SMS opt-in and message delivery records: retained for approximately four years to meet US A2P 10DLC, TCPA, and carrier recordkeeping expectations.
- Website analytics and advertising data: kept per the provider's default retention and our configuration, then deleted or aggregated.
- Guest call and lead data (transcripts, call audio where applicable, caller and reservation numbers, lead details): processed and retained on the restaurant's behalf, for the period set in the restaurant's instructions, then deleted or returned, subject to legal retention requirements.
Children
The site is intended for restaurant operators and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
